What is PSADT?
PowerShell Application Deployment Toolkit (PSADT) is an open source solution that provides a wrapper around the Application deployment process. It gives a standardised approach to the whole process bespoke to what the company needs, giving it a personalised touch.
Why use PSADT?
It utilises PowerShell, with the common tasks required for installing, repairing and uninstalling the applications, and is a common solution we use for our clients.
Here are some of the reasons we use this:
- Standardised the look and feel of the installs, repairs and uninstalls via MECM/Intune, by adding the company’s logo to the deployment windows – or having it completely silent if need be.
- Concise logging is provided with PSADT, making the troubleshooting task a whole lot easier.
- Flexibility to add additional user files and registry that was only possible with Activesetup or additional scripting.
- Offers you the ability to run any PowerShell code, to streamline your deployment process without the need to chain uninstalls or dependencies if need be.
- You can prompt users to close applications that you are upgrading, and allow them to defer the install if the user needs to use the application right now.
